Derek Ward is the director of sales and marketing of United Services Group.  He joined United Services Group in January 2014, bringing a solid marketing and sales focus with him.

Currently, Derek handles all marketing, including all brand identity and strategy for the company.  He is tasked daily with highlighting the services and capabilities of United Services Group through traditional and social marketing channels.

Moreover, Derek introduces United Services Group and its subsidiaries to industry leaders in the Oil & Energy marketing.  He develops and facilitates key strategic partnerships throughout the industry.  These partnerships allow United Services Group to support customers with superior service.

Furthermore, Derek handles other tasks within the company.  He is the social media director and handles all social media communication.  Derek also handles all the information technology for the entire company.

Before starting with United, Derek spent two years at Wachs Services, serving as first the Marketing Coordinator, where he was tasked with creating a branding strategy for the company.  He spent time overhauling the brand through development of a new web presence, introduction of social media, corporate branding, and improved search engine optimization and marketing. 

Due to this success, Derek was promoted to Marketing Manager.  While serving in this role, he continued the overall of the brand identity.  He focused the company’s social media message around under a newly developed slogan: Powered by Higher Standards.

He worked closely with the safety and human resources team to improve the emphasis on these aspects of the business. Working with the Human Resources manager, he developed and implemented a corporate ethics handbook.  With the help of the EHS manager, he developed a safety specific campaign of ‘Think Safety’.  This lead to the development of a weekly safety bulletin, daily safety topics, and the safety observation program.

Prior to his Wachs success, Derek spent three years as the training manager for a tax resolution company.  He oversaw and developed training manuals, seminars and the progression of office personnel.  Through, these programs, he developed and trained new caseworkers through hands-on training when they were hired on with the company.

Derek had a Bachelor’s of business administration (B.B.A.) with a concentration in Marketing from Radford University, in Radford, Virginia.

Derek, a native of Stafford, Virginia, currently resides in Fredericksburg, Virginia with his wife, Terri, and daughter, Riley.
