News: United Energy Services partners with Powerhouse Mechanical Repair on Repair Project

Charlotte, North Carolina – United Energy Services Group recently partnered with Powerhouse Mechanical Repair, Inc. to complete a multidimensional project press bed repair for an industry leading global supplier of drivetrain, mobility, and braking solutions for commercial vehicles at their Fletcher, North Carolina facility.  The project had to be completed within seven days over the Christmas holiday to not interfere with the company’s production cycle.  Powerhouse Mechanical Repair provided all machining processes while United Energy Services provided the welding effort for the project.  The project repair was completed in a short seven-day turnaround.

The bed repair project required United Energy Services to provide 3/8” thick weld overlay on the existing worn 122” long by 78” wide press bed.  United Energy Services performed this project using an automated GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) process over the course of two days working two shifts with four specialty welders.  Our team was able to complete our portion of the project ahead of the predetermined schedule and without any safety concerns.

United Services Group’s Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Gillman, was extremely pleased with the overall team execution of the project.  “We assembled a great team that traveled through a holiday to perform this project in such a tight window of time.  Our team stepped up and provided solid groundwork and provided the necessary time for the Powerhouse Mechanical’s team to complete the machining on this project.”  He continued his praise towards the growing partnership with Powerhouse Mechanical, “the teamwork displayed during this partnership was top-notch and our hat goes off to the team at PMR for their professionalism for the duration of this project.”

Following the completion of the weld overlay, Powerhouse Mechanical Repair machined the new press bed surface.  The machining process was completed to the client’s strict prescribed tolerance of +/- 0.005”.  Powerhouse Mechanical Repair used their FARO Laser Tracker to precisely dial in their Climax LM 6200 gantry mill.  Using custom built fixture rails, from their Charlotte, North Carolina facility, they were able to adapt the gantry mill directly to the client’s project press bed without modification to complete the machining process timely.

Upon the completion of the project, Process Engineer, Randy Holland, was very pleased with the overall result of this multifaceted repair.  “(I want to) thank your team for their professionalism demonstrated to myself and the entire team here at our facility during this project.  It is always great to have contract personnel who are cooperative and able to understand your expectations.”  He was able to conclude that the project was completed to the client’s stringent expectation.

United Services Group is calling on you to help us “Stuff the Bus” with school supplies for a local Charlotte area school in need! ([tweetthis url=”http://bit.ly/usgstb” remove_twitter_handles=”true”]Help @UntdSrvcsGroup Stuff the Bus with School Supplies for a CMS School![/tweetthis])

United Services Group’s “Stuff The Bus” School Supply Drive fundraiser is aimed at raising funds and supplies for a local underprivileged school in the Charlotte community.  In our first annual “Stuff The Bus” School Supply Drive our goal is to raise $5,000.00 (or more!) worth of school supplies to donate to this year’s recipient school, MGLA at Marie G. Davis

MGLA at Marie G. Davis is one of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Systems 69 Title I, formerly No Child Left Behind.  Schools considered Title I are those in which at least 72% of the student population has been designated as economically disadvantaged.

About Title I:

Title I, Part A the cornerstone of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), previously known as No Child Left Behind (NCLB), is the largest federal education program.  Its intent is to help ensure that all children have the opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach proficiency on challenging State academic content and performance standards.

Title I began with the passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965, which provided federal funding for high-poverty schools to help students who are behind academically and at risk of falling behind.

At United Services Group, we aim to be a positive and productive member of our community. We are proud to support organizations working to strengthen our communities and seeks to do our part in improving and building the lives of our neighbors.

As a member of the Charlotte community, we contribute financial resources and gifts to help bring change in our community as well as donating our time and resources to help make a difference.

How to Contribute:

No donation is too small!  We are gladly accepting school supplies or monetary donations at our company headquarters.  If you would like to donate school supplies or to send a check, please send to the following address:  United Services Group, Attn: Stuff the Bus, 2835 Jeff Adams Drive, Suite G, Charlotte, NC 28206.  If you are in the Charlotte area and would like for us to arrange a local pick-up, please contact Derek Ward at 980-237-1335.

Charlotte, NC – United Services Group, a full-service specialty contractor serving general contractors and utilities in the nuclear, fossil, natural gas, solar and petrochemical industries, is looking to hire new workers. Specifically, the company is seeking welders, pipefitters, fitters, boilermakers, machinists, field engineers and riggers.

A member of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, E-4 Carolinas and the Carolina Nuclear Cluster, United Services Group opened its doors in September of 2013.  Since then, the company has hired more than 300 employees and completed over 35 projects within the United States, Mexico and Canada.
